Home Made Remedies For Diabetes

Published by admin under Diabetes Treatment

The metabolic disorder that hinders the utilization of glucose completely and partially is known as diabetes. Diabetes can further be of two types namely: 1-diabetes mellitus (insulin -dependent diabetes) and 2-diabetes mellitus (non insulin -dependent diabetes). In 1 type of diabetes the blood sugar level is not normal due to the inefficiency of the body to produce sufficient insulin and in the type numbered 2, the cells are unable to respond properly to the insulin. The first type of diabetes generally occurs during childhood or adolescence but other ages are also attacked. In order to be healthy these patients need insulin daily. The normal blood sugar without having food is between 80 to 120 mg/dl and this can move up a level of 160mg/dl within two hours after having your meals. The second type of diabetes is found mostly in adults and specifically in those who are overweight and over forty years old. These people can control the sugar level in their blood by controlling their weight along with regular exercises and a balanced diet.

Some of the basic symptoms of diabetes are increased thrust, urination very frequently, an appetite increase, able to feel weakness and loss of weight along with erection problems. The probable causes of diabetes are insulin deficiency or resistance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, a life full of stress and burdens and eating excessively. It is also a hereditary disease and can be transferred to you by your parents.

Some home made natural remedies for curing diabetes in an effective manner are as follows:

1. In one glass of water you need to boil fifteen fresh leaves of mango and leave it for one night. In the morning filter this and drink it. This should be the first thing you need to intake in the morning.

2. Half teaspoon of ground day leaf and half teaspoon of turmeric needs to be mixed with one tablespoon of gel of Aloe Vera. The mixture should be taken twice a day before the lunch and dinner.

3. Small Bitter Gourd’s watery juice with its seed removed should be drunk two times every day. This is considered to be the best natural remedy for diabetes.

4. In one liter of boiling water add 3- tablespoons of cinnamon and simmer it for the duration of twenty minutes in a low flame. Now strain the mixture and drink this at least two times every day.

5. You can also eat fresh curry leaves two times a day to reduce the sugar level in your body.

6. Fish-berry is crushed and soaked in water for one day and the juice is taken as the first thing in the morning.

And some more home remedies for diabetes:

Natural Remedies for Diabetes

Published by admin under Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which blood-sugar (glucose) levels are above normal—either the body doesn’t produce enough of the hormone insulin, which breaks down sugar in the blood, or it cannot utilize its own insulin properly. Diabetes can cause serious health complications including blindness, kidney failure, heart disease, and even limb loss. The good news is that if you are one of the 20.8 million Americans struggling with diabetes (type 1 and type 2 combined) there are natural approaches to help avoid these life-threatening conditions.

As in almost all areas of health, exercise and proper diet can help tremendously for diabetes. That does not mean a heavy exercise regimen nor does it mean a radical weight loss. Moderate exercise and a weight lose of only 5% or slightly more can make a substantial difference (and that holds true for those considered significantly overweight as well as those carrying a few pesky extra pounds. To achieve a 5% or more weight loss may require no more than cutting out soft drinks and taking regular walks for example. At any rate, losing 5% is easily achievable with modest exercise and a sensible diet that includes plenty of vegetables and fruit (though little or no fruit juice because of its high sugar content), fermented whole grains, and getting rid of dangerous trans fats.

In addition to sensible dieting and physical activities, the following have all shown the ability to help with diabetes:

Pycnogenol - Pycnogenol is a powerful antioxidant derived from French maritime pine tree bark and the subject of more than 180 studies over 35 years which has been shown to reduce high blood pressure, LDL cholesterol and blood glucose without affecting insulin levels. Of particular note is its ability to reduce leakage into the retina by repairing capillaries in the eyes. While still largely unknown to American doctors, Pycnogenol is the leading prescription for diabetic retinopathy in France.

Bitter Guord - Make a watery juice of a small Bitter Guord (remove seeds) and drink every morning. Bitter Guord also helps to clear pimples and maintain a good skin, and is good for de-worming the intestines.

Fenugreek seed - Soak fenugreek seeds in about one teaspoon in water at night, drink that water in the morning and chew and eat the soaked seeds. Helps reduce blood sugar.

Green plaintain peels - Wash a green plantain and peel it, then put the peel in a jar and cover with water. Let sit overnight, and then drink this water three times a day. Lowers your blood sugar level. Keep drinking as needed and change the peel every other day and refill the jar with water.

Mullaca - Mullaca is employed in herbal medicine systems today in both Peru and Brazil. In Peruvian herbal medicine the plant is called mullaca or bolsa mullaca. To treat diabetes, the roots of three mullaca plants are sliced and macerated in 1/4 liter of rum for seven days. Honey is added, and 1/2 glass of this medicine is taken twice daily for 60 days. In addition, an infusion of the leaves is recommended as a good diuretic, and an infusion of the roots is used to treat hepatitis. For asthma and malaria, the dosage is 1 cup of tea made from the aerial parts of the plant. In Brazilian herbal medicine the plant is employed for chronic rheumatism, for skin diseases and dermatitis, as a sedative and diuretic, for fever and vomiting, and for many types of kidney, liver, and gallbladder problems.

Agaricus Blazei Murrill (ABM) Mushroom – referred to in it’s native Brazil as “The Mushroom of the Gods” with good reason due to it’s amazing immune boosting and disease fighting properties. Available in health food stores.

Alpha Lipoic Acid - In Germany, alpha-lipoic acid is an approved medical treatment for peripheral neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes. It speeds the removal of glucose from the bloodstream, at least partly by enhancing insulin function, and it reduces insulin resistance, an underpinning of many cases of coronary heart disease and obesity. The therapeutic dose for lipoic acid is 600 mg/day. In the United States, it is sold as a dietary supplement, usually as 50 mg tablets. (The richest food source of alpha-lipoic acid is red meat – but to insure proper health, use lean cuts of organic beef that has not been subject to antibiotics or feed lot practices)

Cat’s Claw – Used by indigenous tribes in Peru and South America to treat diabetes. Available at health food stores.

“Oleander Soup” - A carefully prepared aqueous extract of the oleander plant made according to the directions in the book “Cancer’s Natural Enemy”. Diabetics who have used this remedy report being able to either reduce or eliminate medications altogether, often being able to control their diabetes with diet alone. Note: Oleander is extremely poisonous in raw form, but safe when boiled and strained according to the directions in the book.

Other Good Foods and Supplements - Almonds, apples, oranges, and substances high in omega three oils (olive oil, flaxseed oil, fish oil, borage oil).

Diabetes Home Remedies

Published by admin under Diabetes Treatment

Until date, no absolute cure for diabetes has been found. Research is ongoing in this area, since diabetes brings with it a myriad of other complications, if not kept in control through proper diet, exercise and medication if required.

Diabetic patients must realize that they have a complicated disorder, which continues for lifetime. During pregnancy, diabetes can be serious and diabetic babies always weigh more than normal.
Older people gradually tend to gain weight and they develop a mild form of diabetes because of a strain on their pancreas. Controlling weight can help control diabetes.

As said above, diabetes brings with it a host of complications. Diabetic patients are more prone to infections of the skin, such as boils, carbuncles and itching. Hardening of the arteries occurs much more frequently in diabetic patients. Heart attacks are also more common in such patients. Cataracts occur more frequently in older diabetics and also in patients who have had diabetes for five years or longer.

So, here are some simple home remedies to control the blood glucose level. They help, the only condition being that it must be followed regularly and diligently.

* The powder of the seeds of fenugreek (Methi) taken two to three times a day helps control the sugar in blood and urine.

* Diabetes can also be controlled when you drink water kept overnight, with tender leaves of guava tree and sadabahar plant soaked in it.

* Boil a few leaves each of tulsi (Basil), neem, jamun, bel, along with 4-5 corns of pepper in a glass of water and drink two times a day.

* Morning and evening walk for at least 45 minutes is very essential to control this disease.

* Eat at least 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder daily.

* Consume 1 tablespoon juice of bitter gourd (karela) every morning, It may not instantly give results, but will definitely reduce the intensity of the condition.

* Soak fenugreek seeds about one teaspoon in water at night, drink that water in the morning and chew and eat the soaked seeds. This helps reduce the blood sugar.

* Wash a green banana and peel it. Put the peel in a jar, fill with water and drink this water three times a day. This water will lower the sugar level. Change the peel every other day and refill the jar with water as you drink.

* Take 15 fresh mango leaves and boil them in 1 glass of water. Keep them overnight. Filter and drink the next morning.

* Grapefruit is considered quite beneficial. Eat three grapefruits three times in a day.

* Indian gooseberry (amla), is a rich source of vitamin C and serves as one of the best home remedies for diabetes. Take 1 tablespoon of gooseberry juice and mix it with a cup of bitter gourd juice. Consume the mixture daily for about 2 months.

* Garlic helps blood circulation and regulates sugar level.

* Drink 1 litre of cinnamon water daily. Cinnamon contains a chemical that helps to use blood sugar naturally in body. Add 3 table spoon of cinnamon to 1 litre of boiling water. Simmer for 20 minutes in a low flame, and then strain the mixture.

* A teaspoon of black cumin seeds (kalonji) to be boiled in a glass of water, till it reduces to half. If taken regularly, it helps to control the blood sugar.

* Prepare a mixture by adding equal quantities of turmeric powder and dried gooseberry powder with honey; or drink a mixture containing equal quantities of gooseberry juice and fresh turmeric juice in an empty stomach regularly.

* Prepare coffee with powdered fried fenugreek and wheat, taken in equal quantities.

* Eat fresh, tender curry leaves twice a day to reduce sugar.

* Take some tender guava leaves, and 3 grams of cumin seeds. Crush them together. Boil with one glass of water till reduces to half. Drink 2-3 times a day.

* Drink 8 glass of water in the morning on an empty stomach and walk for one hour.

Diet for a diabetic patient as prescribed in Ayurveda:

The main aim is to help the body absorb the sugar into the system.
Take about one kg of curd made from cow’s milk along with various types of gourds, but without salt. The greener the vegetables, the more valuable it would be. Sour fruits like tomatoes, oranges, pineapple, jamun could also be taken. The patient can also consume one or two chapattis made out of unsieved flour.

Cereals and sugar preparations should be avoided for some time. Hipbath is also recommended, as it is extremely beneficial in the case of diabetes, particularly for patients suffering from constipation.

Yoga is also advised by yoga specialists, which has proved useful in dealing with the disease.

Diabetes - Home Remedies to Cure Diabetes

Published by admin under Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles. There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people are unaware that they have the disease. Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes was first identified as a disease associated with “sweet urine,” and excessive muscle loss in the ancient world. Elevated levels of blood glucose lead to spillage of glucose into the urine, hence the term sweet urine. Normally, blood glucose levels are tightly controlled by insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas. Insulin lowers the blood glucose level. When the blood glucose elevates (for example, after eating food), insulin is released from the pancreas to normalize the glucose level. In patients with diabetes, the absence or insufficient production of insulin causes hyperglycemia. Diabetes is a chronic medical condition, meaning that although it can be controlled, it lasts a lifetime.

Diabetes is a set of related diseases in which the body cannot regulate the amount of sugar in the blood. With Type 1 diabetes , your body does not make insulin. With Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can damage your eyes , kidneys , and nerves . Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. In type 2 diabetes , the beta cells still produce insulin. However, either the cells do not respond properly to the insulin or the insulin produced naturally is not enough to meet the needs of the body. So insulin is usually still present in a person with type 2 diabetes, but it does not work as well as it should. Some people with type 2 can keep it under control by losing weight, changing their diet, and increasing their exercise. Others take one or more medications, including insulin.

Home Remedies to Cure Diabetes

1. Take juice of bilva and parijataka leaves in equal parts for natural remedy of diabetes. Take two teaspoons of it twice a day.

2. Avoid drinking alcohol (including beer, gin, wines and whisky).

3. Take two teaspoons of powdered Fenugreek seeds with milk. Two teaspoons of the seeds can also be swallowed whole, daily.

4. Avoid sweets, chocolates, rice, banana, grapes, mangoes, dry fruits, oils, cakes and pastries.

5. Boil 15 fresh Mango leaves in 1 glass of water. Leave overnight. Filter this water and drink first thing in the morning.

6. Eat green vegetables, coriander, cucumber, cabbage, coconut, chenopodium album (bathu), creeper of pumpkin, cucumber, cabbage, bitter guard, carrot, tomato, lemon, radish, onion and ginger

7. Avoid infections, burns and injuries as they develop ketosis in such stressful conditions.

8. Take 400 mcg. a day of chromium picolinate makes insulin more efficient helping keep sugar level low. Chromium maintains stable blood sugar levels through proper insulin utilization and can be helpful for people with diabetes and/or hypoglycemia.

9. Take plenty of potassium and vitamins C, E, and B-complex.

10. Eat 10 fresh fully grown curry leaves every morning for three months. It prevent diabetes due to heredity factors. It also cures diabetes due to obesity.

Natural Diabetes Remedies: Solution for Diabetes?

Published by admin under Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes management is not an easy task. Keeping your blood sugar levels within the needed range can be difficult, and insulin injections can sometimes be a hassle in certain situations. Maybe it is for these and other reasons that you have been looking for different alternative ways of keeping your diabetes under control. Many diabetics have tried to use natural remedies to help with their disease management, and many of them have experienced positive results. It is understandable to feel skeptical about natural resources to treat diabetes, since many companies and businesses make outrageous false claims about the results you can achieve with their natural products.

Although the truth is that natural remedies may not cure your diabetes completely of replace your need for insulin shots or pills, they can possibly help you manage your glucose levels and keep your diabetes under control. Let us take a look at three natural remedies that have made a positive impact on diabetes.

Chromium

Chromium is an essential mineral found in many foods that we eat on a daily basis. This trace mineral helps burn carbs and fats, but its main function is to increase insulin efficiency when controlling blood glucose levels. Although people with diabetes usually have low levels of chromium, this is not believed to be a cause for diabetes.

Chromium picolinate is the form of chromium usually sold as a supplement, because it is easier for the body to absorb. Recent studies have shown that chromium has helped people with diabetes and insulin resistance, but it has not been a complete cure for diabetes.

Although it seems like trying this supplement would be a smart thing to do, you must be careful. Other studies have shown that chromium can increase your risk for heart disease, and the truth is that no one really knows what amount is safe to take in supplement form. You should never exceed 120 micrograms.

If you are thinking about giving chromium supplements a shot, do your research. Make sure the company you buy the products from is reliable, and always consult with your doctor before trying out new treatment options.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a spice derived from the bark of an evergreen tree, which is native to India. Its active ingredient has been proven to act like insulin and lower blood glucose levels. In medical studies, cinnamon has also been proven to lower bad cholesterol levels. Another great benefit of cinnamon is that it helps neutralize free radicals, dangerous chemicals which are elevated in diabetics. Neutralizing these free radical will help reduce or eliminate risk of serious complications.

Calcium

Calcium is a very important mineral found in the human body, and deficiencies in it have been linked to diseases like diabetes, cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis. Studies have shown that people with high intakes of calcium reduced their risks of type 2 diabetes by a significant percentage.

Having a daily intake of calcium in dietary or supplement form is very important to good health and to avoid serious diseases, including diabetes.

Conclusion

These are just a few natural remedies that you could use to aid in the battle against diabetes. Although these remedies may not completely cure your diabetes or replace your need for insulin shots, they may help you stay healthier and avoid the serious complications that diabetes can cause.

Coping With The Skin Disorder Vitiligo

Published by admin under Vitiligo Remedy

Skin cleansers, moisturizers, toners, and facial masks—these are just some of the basic beauty maintenance products that are a part of a person’s daily regimen. It has long been accepted that the adage “Real beauty is found within,” is generally a concept that people raise their eyebrows at. While beauty is, as they say, skin-deep, physical appearance is the first thing that impacts on a person upon the first meeting.

When a person is affected by vitiligo, the change in his or her appearance can cause quite an emotional trauma. While some people attempt to appear blase, the white patches on the skin are actually quite hard to ignore especially if the person who has them is dark-skinned. The emotional trauma this causes affects the affected people in various manners depending on their age.

For adolescents, this could be the root of severe insecurity. Going to school, wherein students generally don’t have the mature capacity to be discreet or sympathetic might prove to be difficult. The stares alone could prove to be traumatic to a teenager for these are the years wherein looks are of primary concern. For adults, some might find it hard to land jobs especially ones that involve dealing with people or public relations.

There are several strategies that can be used to cope up with the emotional stress that comes with this disorder. The most important one would be finding a doctor who has inept knowledge of vitiligo and will give the patient a firm sense of security. Talking to other people with vitiligo will also help, making one aware that he or she is not alone.

Vitiligo Disorder White Patches & Theories

Published by admin under Vitiligo Remedy

White patches on the skin, premature graying of the scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, and beard, and sometimes a loss of color inside the mouth—these are some of the distinct signs of vitiligo. Some people might mistake it as a disease brought about by too much sun exposure. While signs of this disease commonly appear in the sun-exposed areas of the body, the cause of vitiligo is generally unknown. Doctors and researchers have formulated several theories….

One would be that people develop antibodies (produced by the immune system, these are protective proteins which fight infectious agents including bacteria and viruses) which destroy melanocytes (special skin cells that produce melanin) in their own bodies; two, that melanocytes destroy themselves; and three, that a particular event, such as sunburn or emotional distress, triggers these distress—all of which have no scientific backing yet. Another theory says that is hereditary, making children whose parents are affected, prone to the disorder.

This disorder affects 40 to 50 million of the world’s population, excluding no race or sex type. Majority of the people affected by vitiligo usually develop it before turning 40. Given the shady causes of vitiligo, doctors make it a point to find out about important factors in an affected person’s medical history—family history, a rash or a skin trauma two to three months before depigmentation began, stress, physical illness, and / or premature graying of the scalp. While a scientific breakthrough is yet to be done determining the cause of vitiligo, several preventive measures have been developed over the years.

Vitiligo (Leucoderma) - Ayurvedic Herbal Treatment

Published by admin under Vitiligo Remedy

Vitiligo is a medical condition in which irregular, white patches appear on the skin because of loss of melanin, the pigment that determines the color of skin, hair and eyes. While the exact cause is not known, heredity and a disturbed immune system are believed to be important contributing factors to this condition, which is also known as leucoderma. Vitiligo is more of a cosmetic condition than a disease, however, for some, it may have devastating emotional and psychological consequences.

Vitiligo is known in Ayurveda as “Shwitra” or “Kilaas”. The ancient texts clearly mention that this condition is not contagious, and does not cause symptoms like other skin diseases.

Traditional Ayurvedic formulations which are useful in this condition are: Arogya Vardhini, Trivanga Bhasma, Mahamanjishthadi Qadha (decoction), Khadirarishta, Krumikuthar Rasa, Krumimudgar Rasa, Saarivasav and Rasa Manikya. Herbal medicines useful for vitiligo are: Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Triphala (Three fruits), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Khadir (Acacia catechu), Vidanga (Embilia ribes) and Bavachi (Psoralia corylifolia).

Bavachi has a special place in vitiligo treatment. It is applied on the skin in the form of a paste or oil, and the affected skin parts are exposed for a few minutes to the mild rays of the sun, at particular times of the day. It is also given for oral consumption in the form of powder or tablets. Some physicians prefer to give this medicine in gradually increasing doses for a few weeks, and then taper it gradually.

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Vacha (Acorus calamus) and Shankhpushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis) are useful to reduce stress. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), and Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra) are useful to correct the disturbed immune system.

Some Ayurvedic physicians recommend blood letting (either by leech application or by using a syringe or surgical knife) from the affected skin patches, as part of the therapy. Yet others believe that treatment of “Krumi” or worms is an important part of treatment.

Treatment for this condition is long-term, and may take anything from three to eighteen months. The duration of treatment may not be proportional to the extent of skin involvement, probably because of a disturbed immune system. For example, some persons with widespread vitiligo may respond very fast, whereas others with a few skin patches may respond slowly.

It is advisable to avoid oranges, sweet lime, sea food, excessive salt, and sour or fermented food products.

Vitiligo Affects Millions

Published by admin under Vitiligo Remedy

Vitiligo is a skin disease characterized by white patches of various shapes and sizes. It is caused by the failure of certain areas of the skin to produce melanin, a pigment responsible for natural skin color.

“An estimated 1 to 2 million Americans have vitiligo. It affects both sexes and all races, but is often more noticeable and more disfiguring in people with darker skin. Vitiligo usually starts as small areas of pigment loss that spread and become larger with time. These changes in your skin can result in stress and worries about your appearance,” said the Mayo Clinic.

Why this happens is still a mystery although the condition appears to be inherited. The milky white patches that accompany the disease may be limited to certain areas of the body, affect only one side of the body or be widespread. Other less common signs include premature graying or whitening of the hair on the scalp, eyebrows or eyelashes, and loss of color in the tissues inside your mouth.

“Although any part of your body may be affected by vitiligo, depigmentation usually develops first on sun-exposed areas of your skin, such as your hands, feet, arms, face and lips. Although it can start at any age, vitiligo often first appears between the ages of 20 and 30,” explained the Mayo Clinic.

The disease has been associated with thyroid disorders, pernicious anemia (which follows lack of hydrochloric acid in stomach juices and nervous conditions), Addison’s disease (a disorder of the adrenal glands), diabetes, hearing defects, alopecia areata (hair loss) and photophobia (sensitivity to light).

The condition may also follow physical or psychological stress, severe sunburn, surgery, pregnancy or a chemical reaction.

“Doctors and scientists have theories as to what causes vitiligo. It may be due to an immune system disorder. Heredity may be a factor because there’s an increased incidence of vitiligo in some families. Some people have reported a single event, such as sunburn or emotional distress that triggered the condition. However, none of these theories has been proved as a definite cause of vitiligo,” the Mayo Clinic said.

Despite its appearance, vitiligo is harmless. If the disease is limited to certain parts of the body, it can be covered with the help of cosmetics. To protect your skin from the sun, use a good sunscreen.

“Depending on the number, size and location of the white patches, you may decide to seek medical treatment. Medical treatments for vitiligo aim to even out skin tone, either by restoring color (pigment) or destroying the remaining color. Depending on the type of therapy, treatment for vitiligo may take from six to 18 months. Medical treatment choices are based on the number of white patches you have and how widespread they are. Each person responds differently to treatment, and a particular therapy may not work for you,” the Mayo Clinic revealed.

Vitiligo Treatment Options

Published by admin under Vitiligo Remedy

Vitiligo is a skin condition affecting the body’s production of melanin in the skin, which causes white patches of skin on the body. There is no known cure for vitiligo, but the symptoms may be treated using various methods.

One treatment for vitiligo involves photo therapy, or treatment using light. With this method, ultraviolet rays are used to stimulate the body’s melanocytes, which are the cells that produce melanin.

Another treatment involves grafting healthy skin into the areas of skin affected by vitiligo. Hopefully, the melanocytes in the healthy skin will begin producing melanin an obscure the pale spots of skin.

Herbal treatments have been used for centuries for treating vitiligo. Herbal treatments general involve a comprehensive treatment not only of the symptoms, but of suspected underlying causes. For example, a typical Chinese herbal treatment would address the symptoms of vitiligo with a topical, but it would also attempt to address underlying causes, such as the immune system, digestive system, liver, kidneys, and chi.

Homeopathic treatments are also used for vitiligo. Like herbal treatments, they attempt to address underlying causes, not just the symptoms.

One of the newest treatments for vitiligo is laser treatment therapy. Just like photo therapy, it uses ultraviolet rays to stimulate the melanocytes in your skin. Unlike photo therapy, however, it focuses the light using a laser, so it promises to be more effective and causes fewer side effects.

One treatment that is not often used involves using a chemical to uniformly remove pigmentation from the skin, so that the patient’s skin is uniform instead of splotchy.

Doctors also sometimes use a combination of different treatments, sometimes with very good results. The results of treatment are largely dependent on how severe the case is. In a large percentage of cases, treatment is successful in largely mitigating the condition. However, much research remains to be done on vitiligo.

Asthma - Herbal treatment, Ayurvedic Remedies and Home Remedies

Published by admin under Asthma

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disorder in which the inner lining of the respiratory tract becomes inflamed. Alternatively it could be blocked with a layer of mucus or could become constricted due to some other reason. All these factors could lead to severe problems in respiration, which could even result in death of the person.

Though asthma is a chronic disorder, it does not manifest itself all the time. It is exacerbated by certain triggers, which can lead to the bouts of respiratory problems, known as asthmatic attacks. During an asthmatic attack, there is severe difficulty in breathing, characterized by wheezing, gasping, shortness of breath and inability of speech. Generally an attack does not last more than a few minutes. However, a severe attack could kill within those few moments the attack lasts.

Why is Asthma caused?

The exact cause of asthma is not known. But in asthmatic people, the attacks are caused due to some environmental factors to which they are allergic. There are many allergenic factors in the environment such as dust, hair, pollen, lint, smoke, cigarette smoke, perfumes, deodorants and many others. When such an allergen is present in the environment of the person whose respiratory tract is inflamed, the person develops a violent reaction. This is known as an asthmatic attack.

However why some people are allergic to some substances is not known. The same substance can have widely different responses in different people. Even with the same allergen, there could be different levels of responsiveness in different people.

It is being strongly suggested nowadays that allergies develop due to genetic factors. For example, if the father is allergic to chalk powder, then there is a strong possibility that the child will be allergic to the same substance also. Again, it is not clear why in some people the respiratory tracts get inflamed.

What are the Symptoms of Asthma?

When a person is going to get the attack, one or more of the following symptoms can be observed:-

  • The person may find it difficult to breathe. Breathing may occur with gasps.
  • The heartbeat will increase.
  • There will be excessive sweating.
  • There will be spots before the eyes.
  • There could be a sense of claustrophobia, i.e. a feeling of being in a closed environment.
  • Talking will become difficult.
  • There will be a tight, constricted, or even burning feeling, in the chest.
  • When the attack comes on, the following characteristics are observed:-

  • The person would most generally collapse as the ability to stand on the feet would be diminished.
  • Breathing will come in very large gasps; the person will look like as if swallowing air.
  • There will be severe palpitation and profuse sweating.
  • Hands and feet could become cold.
  • Due to loss of nerve impulses, the person may also begin moving spasmodically.
  • How can Asthma be avoided?

Asthma is a chronic condition; there is no cure for it. Hence the only ‘treatment’ for an asthmatic attack will be to identify the allergenic factor and completely eliminate it from the surroundings of the person. Often it is difficult to find out which the allergen is; but with careful observation, it can be found out.

People living with an asthmatic patient should also take due care that the allergen is not introduced in the proximity of the person. Generally with the allergen eliminated from the surroundings, asthmatic patients can lead a normal life.

One more point is to keep a bronchodilator always at hand. This is a pump-like device which pumps air forcibly into the respiratory tract, thereby reducing the constriction. Also the bronchodilator must always be full – negligence could make all the difference between life and death to a patient.

How can Asthma be controlled with Simple Home Remedies?

Many traditional recipes have been used over the ages to keep asthma at bay. Though not clinically proven, these recipes have been indeed effective in prolonging the lives of asthmatic persons. Some of these recipes are given below:-

  • Mix a couple of leaves of the holy basil with honey and consume them every morning. This is a very effective remedy to keep asthmatic attacks away.
  • When an attack is about to come, then chewing on some leaves of the holy basil mixed with rock salt.
  • In order to clean the respiratory tract, roast gram and have them with milk just before going to bed.
  • Grind some turmeric (use old turmeric for better results). Mix one teaspoonful of this powder with one tablespoonful of honey (again, the honey must be as old as possible). This is to be taken orally. This recipe is believed to work even when all other methods fail.
  • For asthma in the early stages, it is beneficial to chew on some black pepper before going to bed.
  • For temporary relief from asthmatic attacks, mix some leaves of the holy basil with black pepper and consume them.
  • One more remedy is to mix some lemon juice with ginger and consume it once a day.
